What Is Hyperhidrosis?
Our bodies are finely tuned to maintain a stable temperature, with the nervous system initiating the sweat response as a cooling mechanism when we overheat, feel nervous, or confront stressful situations. However, when this system goes into overdrive, the result is excessive sweating, turning a natural and healthy process into a persistent and often distressing issue.
Excessive sweating commonly occurs around the hairline, under the arms, and on the palms and feet. This is known as primary hyperhidrosis. In secondary hyperhidrosis, patients experience full-body sweating beyond localized areas.
A typical person can sweat about one litre of fluid daily. Those dealing with hyperhidrosis may sweat up to 4 times this amount. In most cases of hyperhidrosis, antiperspirants are ineffective. The good news is that several effective treatment options are available for excessive sweating.
To determine which treatments are best for your specific case, you will need to be examined by a doctor. Our medical director, Dr. Perhez Jaffer, will review your symptoms and rule out any potential underlying medical conditions during this exam.
Under the rigorous medical supervision of Dr. Perhez Jaffer and Dr. Femida Kherani, Heights Laser Centre features a dedicated team, each member bringing years of specialized expertise in cosmetic and laser treatments. United by a passion for client care, our staff excels in personalized service, ensuring a warm, professional, and supportive experience for every patient.

BOTOX® for Hyperhidrosis
If everything checks out medically, BOTOX may be a solution worth exploring. Widely known as a wrinkle-prevention treatment, BOTOX can also disable sweat glands and reduce sweating. This treatment works best in areas such as the underarms and around the hairline.
BOTOX hyperhidrosis treatment sessions take as little as 10 to 15 minutes and require no recovery time. Dr. Jaffer uses a small syringe to inject the solution numerous times to cover as much surface area as possible where the sweating occurs.
The treatment typically takes effect within 4 to 10 days after injection and can remain effective for up to 6 months. You can maintain your results with follow-up treatments as needed.
