What makes us look younger? For years and years we have been chasing the Fountain of Youth. Renowned Plastic Surgeon, Dr. S. Dayan of Chicago, posed the following question to his patients:

What is it about Botox ® that makes you look younger?

The majority of respondents replied that their eyes were bigger.

It certainly makes sense. If you look at your pictures as a baby, as a teenager, and as a young adult, you will notice that your eyes are open. As we get older, our eyes narrow. So by opening up our eyes or widening our eyes we look younger. The Fountain of Youth!

So how can we achieve this look as we age?

Start with the basics – sunscreen SPF 30 or higher, omega 3 fatty acids, Vitamin C serum and Vitamin A cream for your face. These are scientifically proven to slow the aging process.

The neurotoxins, Botox ® and Xeomin ®, in Canada, will prevent the motion of the muscles around the eyes and allow the eyes to open up wider. Hyaluronic acid fillers such as Juvederm ® and Restylane ® when injected above the lateral brow line will cause a lift in addition to the Botox ® and Xeomin ®.

Finally we can be more aggressive, and use radiofrequency devices (eMatrix ®) or focused ultrasound devices (Ultherapy ®) to build and strengthen collagen in the skin around the eyes.

The Fountain of Youth! It has been right in front of our eyes!
